Man, 32, jailed for 28 weeks for breach of restraining order and multiple shopliftings

Vincent Stephen Petroccione, of no fixed abode, has been jailed for a total of 28 weeks for shoplifting and breach of restraining order.

The 32-year-old was sentenced at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (28 November).It follows a breach of his restraining order on 31 August and 12 thefts, totalling more than £700 in stolen goods, from shops in Netley and Southampton during August and September.

As well as the time he will have to spend behind bars, Petroccione must also pay a £187 victim surcharge.The incidents, for which Petroccione has been jailed, are as follows;

-On Monday 18 September, he stole £87.50 worth of Fairy, Ariel and Persil washing products, along with a packet of cookies, from Co-op, Station Road, Netley. Petroccione pleaded guilty.

– On Thursday 14 September, he stole thirty packs of bacon, valued at £66, from Co-op, Station Road, Netley. Petroccione pleaded guilty.

– On Sunday 10 September, he stole food items, with an unknown value, from Co-op, Tickleford Drive, Southampton. Petroccione pleaded guilty.

– On Saturday 9 September, he stole food items, with an unknown value, from Co-op, Tickleford Drive, Southampton. Petroccione pleaded guilty.

– Also on Saturday 9 September, he stole four candles, valued at £16.80, from Co-op, station Road, Netley. Petroccione pleaded guilty.

– On Friday 8 September, he stole washing detergents, valued at £102, from Co-op, Weston Lane, Southampton. Petroccione pleaded guilty.

– On Thursday 31 August, he attended an address in Southampton and made contact with someone he was prohibited from speaking to. The restraining order had only been put in place four weeks earlier. Petroccione pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 14 weeks’ imprisonment.

– On Wednesday 30 August, he stole four packs of sausages, valued at £19.40, from Co-op, Station Road, Netley. Petroccione pleaded not guilty.

– On Monday 28 August, he stole eight packs of meat, ten boxes of washing powder and one bottle of Lucozade, with a total value of £131.75, from Co-op, Station Road, Netley. Petroccione pleaded not guilty.

– On Saturday 26 August, he stole 15 boxes of Persil washing gels, valued at £90, from Co-op, Station Road, Netley. Petroccione pleaded not guilty.

– Also on Saturday 26 August, he stole detergents, valued at £100, from Co-op, Weston Lane, Southampton. Petroccione pleaded not guilty.

– On Thursday 24 August, he stole eight cans of coffee, valued at £62.75, from Co-op, Bridge Road, Southampton. Petroccione pleaded not guilty.

– Also on Thursday 24 August, he stole five boxes of washing gels and five plug-in air fresheners, valued at £40.25, from Co-op, Station Road, Netley.
