A 76-year-old man has been jailed for 12 years after admitting a number of child sexual offences.
Robert Frid, from Farnborough, was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday 28 September) after pleading guilty to six sexual offences against children, including attempted rape.
The offences took place against two children between 2007 and 2017.
On Tuesday, Frid was given a 12-year custodial sentence with an extended licence period of three years.
He had admitted one count of attempted rape, one count of assault by penetration, one count of sexual touching and three counts of sexual assault.
Detective Constable Clare Hughes, from the Northern Child Abuse Investigation Team, said: “We hope this sentence has provided the victims with some element of closure, knowing that Frid has been jailed for the harrowing offences he committed against them.
“We would like to praise the girls for showing a great amount of courage by coming forward to report the offences to police.
“A thorough investigation has resulted in a sexual offender being brought to justice.
“I would like to encourage anyone who has been a victim of child sexual abuse, or if they know someone who has been impacted by child sexual abuse, to contact police on 101.
“They can speak with our specialist officers with confidence.”
