Man Bailed as Murder Investigation Continues After Woman Found Dead in Portsmouth Home

A man arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman’s body was found at a home in Portsmouth has been bailed while police continue their investigation.

Officers were called to an address in Hartley Road, North End, at around 7.40pm on Monday, 25 May, after South Central Ambulance Service reported that a woman had been found dead.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed the woman’s death was being treated as suspicious, and a murder investigation was launched.

A 60-year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday, 26 May. Police have now confirmed he has been bailed with conditions until 25 August while enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for the force said: “The 60-year-old man has been bailed with conditions until August 25 and extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“Anyone with information which could assist our investigation is asked to please contact us.”
