Man Jailed for Multiple Child Sexual Offences Following Portsmouth Trial
Stephen Street, of Aspengrove, has been convicted at Portsmouth Crown Court after a nine-day trial of a series of serious sexual offences against a girl aged under 10 at the time.
He was found guilty of:
Seven counts of sexual assault of a girl under 13
One count of sexual assault by penetration of a girl under 13
One count of causing or inciting sexual activity with a child
One count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child
One count of sexual communication with a child
At an earlier hearing on 19 January, Street had also admitted:
Six offences relating to making/possessing indecent images of children
One offence of possessing extreme pornographic images
He was sentenced on Wednesday 6 May at Portsmouth Crown Court. The court also imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and a restraining order.
The judge described Street as a “dangerous offender” who had “abused, damaged and corrupted” the victim, highlighting the high risk he poses to other children.
Detective Constable David Sloan praised the victim’s courage in coming forward after enduring three years of abuse, stating that her bravery was key to securing the conviction.
