Officers investigating a rape in Gosport have charged a man
In the early hours of the morning on Sunday 10 July, police received a report that a man in his 20s had been raped by another man in an area off Walpole Road between Morrisons and the junction with Spring Garden Lane.
Following enquiries, officers arrested 25-year-old Cihat Mert, of Forton Road in Gosport, who has subsequently been charged with rape.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday 21 July).
