Police are appealing for witnesses after a suspicious incident in Aldershot town centre on Monday afternoon (May 30)
The incident happened between Short Street and the Weatherspoons around 1pm.
It was reported to police that a man approached a woman and her young child and persisted with trying to talk to the child. He also touched the child without permission.
He did not try to take the child.
Feeling uncomfortable, the mother was able to leave the area with her child.
Officers who are investigating the incident and are keen to speak with anyone who may have information which will assist them.
The man is described as being white, around 5ft 8ins tall, of average build, with grey hair, and with a very strong Scottish accent.
As part of police enquiries, officers have arrested a 57-year-old man from Aldershot on suspicion of sexual assault.
He has since been released under investigation.
