Police have closed the A27 between the Eastern Road and Hilsea roundabout following a serious collision
Police and Paramedics from South Central Ambulance service are on scene.
Queues of cars were seen stranded between the junction of the Eastern Road and Hilsea following the incident, with traffic officers getting drivers to turn around and being escorted down the slip road of the carriageway.
A number of police accident investigators are also the the incident after what is believed to be a fatal collision involving a heavy goods vehicle owned by Infinity Foods.
