Portsmouth hotel evacuated after reported room fire at ibis in Fratton Way
A Portsmouth hotel was evacuated shortly before midday today following reports of a fire in one of the rooms.
Emergency services were seen outside the ibis hotel on Fratton Way, with fire crews and police attending the scene.
An eyewitness told Hampshire Incidents that guests and staff were evacuated from the building while the incident was dealt with. The witness also reported seeing a man being handcuffed and placed into a police van.
At this stage, it is not yet clear how the fire started, whether anyone was injured, or if any arrests have been confirmed by police.
