Officers responding to reports of an attempted theft of a vehicle, which was in progress, in the Marchwood area have arrested three people.
It comes after police were deployed to Beaulieu Road just after midnight, at around 00.30am, after a member of the public had reportedly seen three individuals attempting to steal his vehicle from his driveway.
Upon arrival, officers located three men in a vehicle opposite the address and were spoken to by officers. They were subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempting to steal a motor vehicle and were searched.
During the search, two of the men were in possession of a catapult, which was seized.
A 19-year-old man from Holbury was arrested on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle and possession of an offensive weapon.
A 20-year-old man from Fawley was arrested on suspicion of attempt theft from a motor vehicle and possession of an offensive weapon.
A 31-year-old man from Holbury was arrested on suspicion of attempt theft of a motor vehicle.
All three remain in custody at this time.
