Officers investigating drugs supply on the Isle of Wight have charged two men
At 9.30pm on Tuesday 28 June, a vehicle travelling into Hampshire via the A3 was stopped by officers on St George’s Road, Portsmouth.
It’s alleged that a passenger left the vehicle and ran towards the Millennium Walkway at Gunwharf Quays, before discarding a rucksack containing suspected Class A drugs into the water.
Two men were arrested as part of enquiries and have since been charged.
They are:
James Brian Rose, aged 27, of North Road in Shanklin, charged with concealing criminal property and two counts of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.
Martyn Andrew Shotton, aged 44, of Sun Hill in Cowes, charged with concealing criminal property, drug driving, and two counts of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.
Both men were remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court this morning (30 June).
Police continue to encourage people to please keep reporting suspicious behaviours and suspected drug dealing in your neighbourhood, as the information you provide helps officers develop the bigger picture which leads them to take action and remove drugs from the streets.
Report suspicious activity via 101 or online at: https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/
