Update after man arrested in connection with sexual assault in Petersfield

Officers investigating a sexual assault in Petersfield are today continuing their enquiries following the arrest of a 29-year-old man

 

Between 12.45am and 1.05am on Monday 16 May it was reported to police that a 25-year-old woman had been approached from behind by a man unknown to her at Goodyear Meadow.

 

The man pulled her back from the bridge and sexually assaulted her before she managed to run away.

 

Police now believe that this incident is linked to another, which was reported to police in Havant.

 

Police received a report that on Saturday 14 May at approximately 2.05pm a man indecently exposed himself in front of a 22-year-old woman in the alleyway that connects Grove Road to Twittens Way in Havant.

 

A 29-year-old man from Petersfield, who was arrested on suspicion of common assault, exposure and attempted rape in connection with the two incidents has been released from police custody on conditional bail whilst enquiries continue.

 

Officers will be patrolling in the vicinity of Goodyear Meadow and Twittens Way in Havant today, please do approach them if you have any concerns or questions.
