Officers were called to Lidl Park Parade at 4.00 pm Saturday 4 September after it was reported that a security guard had been subject to a violent assault.
On police arrival an officer also sustained injures and was bitten, punched and kicked in the head whilst trying to manage the situation.
Additional police units attended to help detain the male which resulted in further assaults against police.
The male is now in custody.
