Woman Arrested After Alleged Third Drink-Drive Incident

A 42-year-old woman from Havant has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after officers spotted a vehicle being driven in the Havant area.

Officers from the Rural Crime Taskforce, PS Cork and PC Goudie, were on patrol when PS Cork recognised the vehicle’s registration. Police say the same driver had been arrested just four days earlier for the same offence and was on police bail with conditions not to drive.

As officers turned to follow the vehicle, the driver allegedly accelerated away at speed and took a series of side roads in an attempt to evade police.

Following a pursuit through the local area, officers located the vehicle in a dead-end road, where PC Goudie safely detained and arrested the driver.

The woman has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in court tomorrow.

Police say she is also due in court in the coming weeks in connection with a separate drink-driving offence from May.

Drink driving puts lives at risk and can have devastating consequences for families and communities. Officers say they will continue to take robust action against those who choose to get behind the wheel while over the limit.
