🔥 Bedroom blaze tackled at Ryde seafront property
Firefighters were called to a house fire on the Esplanade in Ryde yesterday afternoon after smoke and flames were seen coming from the building.
Crews from Ryde, Newport, Shanklin and Cowes were alerted shortly after 5pm and attended the two-storey property.
Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used hose reel jets to tackle the fire, which had broken out in an attic bedroom.
Ventilation fans were used to clear smoke from the property, while crews also removed roof tiles to check for any possible fire spread.
The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault within a shower unit.
Firefighters gave fire safety advice before leaving the scene at around 8pm. Crews later returned to carry out a reinspection.
