Major Crash on Kettering Terrace in Portsmouth Prompts Significant Road Closures and gridlock traffic across Portsmouth
Emergency services are dealing what is believed to be a fatal road traffic collision on Kettering Terrace in Portsmouth, which has caused major disruption across key routes in and out of the city.
Police have confirmed that road closures are currently in place while officers and emergency crews respond to the incident.
The closures affect Mile End Road onto the M275, continuing up to Junction 2 at Rudmore Roundabout. Princess Royal Way is also closed while the incident is being dealt with.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area until further notice, with congestion building on surrounding roads. Delays are expected for anyone travelling into, out of, or through Portsmouth city centre.
A police spokesperson said:
“Road closures are in place while we continue to respond to a serious road traffic collision on Kettering Terrace in Portsmouth. The closures are at Mile End Road, onto the M275, and up to Junction 2 – Rudmore Roundabout. Princess Royal Way is also closed. Please avoid the area until further notice.
“We thank people for their patience and understanding while we continue to deal with this incident. We will update you all once the road has reopened.”
Drivers are advised to plan ahead, allow extra journey time, and use alternative routes where possible.
