BREAKING: Motorcyclist Dies Following Fatal Crash On Kettering Terrace In Portsmouth
A motorcyclist has sadly died following a serious single-vehicle collision on Kettering Terrace in Portsmouth this morning.
Emergency services were called shortly before 7.30am today, Saturday 2 May, after Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary were informed by South Central Ambulance Service that a serious road traffic collision had taken place.
The collision involved a Royal Enfield Continental motorbike. Despite the efforts of medical professionals and emergency responders at the scene, the rider — a man in his 30s from Waterlooville — was pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been informed.
Police and emergency service partners remain at the scene while enquiries continue.
A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said:
“We and our emergency service partners remain at the scene at this time. Closures are currently in place at Mile End Road, onto the M275, and up to junction 2 – Rudmore Roundabout. Princess Royal Way is also closed.
“Please avoid the area until further notice. We thank people for their patience and understanding while we continue to deal with this incident.”
The closures are causing major disruption for motorists travelling into and out of Portsmouth, particularly around Mile End Road, the M275, Rudmore Roundabout and Princess Royal Way.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while police continue their work at the scene.
Our thoughts are with the rider’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
