Appeal Following Serious Collision Involving Teenager In Southampton
Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl suffered serious injuries in a collision involving a bike and a tree branch in Southampton.
The incident happened at around 1.20pm on Saturday, 9 May, on the footpath through Tanner’s Brook, next to Lords Hill Way.
A 14-year-old girl was reportedly sitting on the handlebars of a bike while it was being ridden along the path when it collided with a tree branch.
She sustained serious injuries including a fractured jaw, a forehead laceration and damage to her teeth.
The bike, believed to have been an e-bike, was removed from the scene before officers arrived.
A 15-year-old boy from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by careless driving. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, saw the bike being ridden in the area, or who may be able to identify the type of bike involved, to come forward. Police are also keen to obtain any dashcam or nearby camera footage.
