Man Admits Murdering Samantha Murphy in Portsmouth
A man has admitted murdering 32-year-old Samantha Murphy in Portsmouth after changing his plea on the fifth day of his trial.
Appearing at Portsmouth Crown Court this afternoon, Charlie James Jeans, 31, of Margate Road, Southsea, pleaded guilty to Samantha’s murder.
Emergency services were called at 7:37am on Thursday 5 June 2025 following reports that Samantha’s body had been found at an address on Wadham Road, Portsmouth.
Jeans had initially denied the charge, but changed his plea during the trial proceedings.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Portsmouth Crown Court again for sentencing on Wednesday 17 June 2026.
Samantha’s family continue to be supported following her death.
Further details are expected to be released following sentencing.
