Police are appealing for witnesses, or anyone with information, following an assault in the Hedge End area.
The incident occurred on Monday 6 September between 12.30pm and 12.50pm whereby the victim, a 17-year-old girl, was assaulted along Bursledon Road heading towards Hamble Lane.
She was approached by an unknown man as she walked along a pathway and grabbed around the waist before being assaulted. The teenager managed to escape and flee the scene, but suffered minor injuries including bruising and scratches to her legs.
The man is described as being white and was seen to be wearing grey shorts and Nike trainers.
District Inspector for Eastleigh and Hedge End, Lou Hubble, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this assault or been in the immediate area in the lead up to or in the immediate aftermath of the attack as this could aid our investigation. Did you perhaps see a man acting suspiciously in the area?
“Specifically, we are asking anyone who may have been traveling along Bursledon Road towards Windhover roundabout from the Botley Road junction at the time, and who might have dash cam footage, to get in touch with us.
“I want to reassure local residents that this is being treated as an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public at this time. As always, if you see anything suspicious please report it via the Hampshire Constabulary website or by calling 101. If a crime is in progress, or it is an emergency, dial 999 immediately.”
Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call 101, quoting 44210356784.
