CCTV images released following Southampton robbery investigation
Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to as part of an investigation into a robbery involving two boys in Southampton.
The incident happened at around 4.27pm on Saturday 16 May on Portswood Road. It is reported that a man approached two boys, aged 12 and 13, produced a large knife and asked if either of them had a mobile phone.
The boys ran in different directions, but the man allegedly chased one of them into an alleyway, grabbed him by the shoulders, took a mobile phone from his pocket and stole it.
The victim suffered minor injuries, including scratches, during the incident.
The man police wish to identify is described as:
White
Approximately 5ft 7ins tall
Small build
Wearing a dark blue hooded top with the hood up and dark-coloured tracksuit bottoms
Officers believe the man shown in the CCTV images can assist with their enquiries and are urging him, or anyone who recognises him, to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or report it online, quoting incident number 44260230472. Information can also be provided anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
As part of the investigation, a 24-year-old Southampton man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and a public order offence. He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.
