Dashcam Appeal After Dangerous Police Pursuit Through Andover and Whitchurch

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a dangerous driving incident that saw a driver allegedly reach excessive speeds, drive on the wrong side of the road, and fail to stop for officers.

The incident unfolded between 7:15pm and 8:10pm on Saturday, 13 June, when a silver Volkswagen Urban Fox was reported driving dangerously on the A31 and M27.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, however the driver failed to comply and continued towards Andover. Police say the car was driven at excessive speeds and was seen travelling on the wrong side of the road along the A303 near Weyhill.

The pursuit came to an end a short time later in Whitchurch where the vehicle was stopped.

An 18-year-old man from Whitchurch was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, and drink driving. He has since been released on bail until Friday, 19 June while enquiries continue.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is now urging anyone who witnessed the vehicle being driven, particularly around the A303 and Andover town centre, to come forward.

Investigators are especially keen to hear from motorists who may have captured the incident on dashcam footage, as well as anyone with CCTV that could assist the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 44260280146.

Information can also be submitted online via the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary website or anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
