Man, 32, Arrested After Police Dog Finds Suspected Class A Drugs During Aldershot Stop

A 32-year-old man from Winchester has been arrested after officers discovered suspected Class A drugs during a proactive police stop in Aldershot in the early hours of Monday morning.

Officers were patrolling the area when they observed suspicious activity involving a silver Ford on North Lane before it travelled onto Ordnance Road at around 12.30am on 15 June.

The vehicle was stopped and, due to concerns raised at the scene, the driver was subjected to a roadside drugs wipe test, which returned a positive result for cocaine.

Police Dog Major was then deployed to search the vehicle and indicated that the driver was in possession of drugs. Officers subsequently located suspected Class A drugs concealed inside a sock.

Police also seized £210 in cash and recovered the suspected drugs as part of their investigation. The Ford was additionally seized after checks revealed it was not insured.

The man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug and driving a vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the legal limit.

He remains in police custody while enquiries continue.

Anyone with information relating to drug supply or anti-social behaviour in the Aldershot area is encouraged to contact Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary.
