Man, 49, Charged Over Burglary and Fraud Offences
A 49-year-old man has been charged following burglary investigations in both Littleton and Stockbridge.
Police received reports that a handbag was stolen from a property in Deane Down Drove, Littleton, on 31 March. A bank card taken during the burglary was later used to withdraw £200 from a cash machine outside Tesco Express on Priors Dean Road, Winchester.
A second burglary was reported on 1 June at an address in Nelson Close, Stockbridge, where another handbag was stolen. An attempt was later made to use a stolen bank card at the same ATM.
Following enquiries, officers stopped a vehicle in Chandler’s Ford yesterday (8 June) and arrested a man in connection with the incidents.
David Wells, 49, of no fixed abode, has been charged with:
▪️ Two counts of burglary dwelling and theft (no violence)
▪️ Two counts of fraud by false representation
▪️ Driving whilst disqualified
▪️ Using a motor vehicle without third-party insurance
Wells is due to appear before magistrates in Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court today (9 June).
