Man Arrested as Murder Investigation Launched in Portsmouth
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a body at a property in Cyprus Road, Portsmouth.Police are currently in attendance at the scene and a murder investigation has subsequently been opened.
Residents living nearby have spoken of their shock at the incident, describing Cyprus Road as normally a quiet residential street where people largely keep themselves to themselves.
One resident, who asked not to be named, told Hampshire & Isle of Wight News that an argument had taken place in the road before police arrived.
The resident said they witnessed a man shouting at a woman and described him as being “in her face” during the altercation.Police subsequently attended the address, where a body was discovered.
A man has since been arrested on suspicion of murder.A police presence remains in the area while officers carry out enquiries.More to follow as further information becomes available.
