A man has been charged in connection with a rape in Southampton
Police were called at 8.38pm on Monday (7 March) to reports of a woman in her 20s being raped at an address in Bevois.
Matthew Bedwell, 29, of Mullen Close, Southampton, was charged with rape, assault by penetration and sexual assault.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court this morning (9 March), where he was further remanded to next appear at Southampton Crown Court on 4 April.
The woman is being supported by specialist officers.
