Man Jailed for Over a Year After String of Offences in Waterlooville and Havant
A 29-year-old man has been jailed for a total of 54 weeks after committing a series of offences across Waterlooville and Havant, including repeated shop thefts,
assaulting a police officer, and previously being involved in a dangerous driving incident.
Harry Wild, of Partridge Gardens, Waterlooville, appeared before Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on 21 May, where he was sentenced for multiple offences committed between April and May this year.
The offences included four separate thefts from the One Stop store on Hart Plain Avenue, Waterlooville:
6 April – stole alcohol worth £18
12 April – stole alcohol worth £36
30 April – stole alcohol worth £12
3 May – stole meat and alcohol worth £54.85
Wild was also convicted of assaulting an emergency worker after kicking a police officer in the face while resisting arrest on 15 May.
The offences led to the activation of a suspended sentence that had previously been imposed by Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on 15 December 2025. That sentence related to a dangerous driving offence committed in Havant on 4 April 2024.
As a result, Wild received a combined prison sentence of 54 weeks.
PS Christian Lavin, from Hampshire Police’s Waterlooville North Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:
“I am pleased to see Wild receive a significant sentence for this series of offences.
Whether you are working in a shop or in the emergency services, no one deserves to face abuse at work, and Wild is clearly an individual who does not care how his behaviour impacts those around him.
I hope this sentence sends a clear message that antisocial and violent behaviour will not be tolerated in Hampshire, and offenders will be pursued and brought to justice for their actions.”
Police say the sentence highlights their commitment to tackling repeat offenders and protecting both retail staff and frontline emergency workers from abuse and violence.
