Motorcyclist Dies And Another Seriously Injured In Four-Vehicle Collision Near Crondall

A motorcyclist has died and another has been seriously injured following a four-vehicle collision near Crondall, between Hook and Aldershot.

Police were called at 7.42pm on Saturday 4 July to reports of a collision on the A287 Farnham Road, between the junctions of Calf Lane and Chalky Lane.

The collision involved two Harley Davidson motorbikes, a BMW X3 and an LDV Maxus motorhome van.

At the time of the collision, police say three of the vehicles were travelling eastbound, while the LDV Maxus was travelling westbound.

One of the motorcyclists, a man in his 50s from Thames Ditton in Surrey, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A second motorcyclist, a man in his 30s from Farnham, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital, where he remains.

The driver of the BMW X3, from Basingstoke, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving and driving a motor vehicle while unfit through drugs. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

The driver of the LDV Maxus was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and causing death by dangerous driving. He has also been released under investigation.

Detective Sergeant Edward Crofts, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are investigating a collision in which a motorcyclist has sadly lost their life. I would ask that any witnesses, or anyone with dash camera footage of any of the vehicles involved, whether prior to or at the time of the collision, to come forward to assist the investigation.

“Our thoughts remain with all those affected by the collision, in particular the families of the two motorcyclists, one of whom is seriously injured, the other who sadly passed away.”
