A murder investigation has been launched in Portsmouth this evening following the discovery of a woman who had sustained serious injuries, Police were called shortly after 4am to a report of a woman who had been discovered with serious injuries.
Police placed a cordon in Buckingham Street, Portsmouth close to a children’s park after the discovery, it’s understood the woman aged 23 was taken to hospital in a critical condition but sadly died as a result of her injuries.
A police spokesman said: “She was taken to hospital in a critical condition and subsequently died from her injuries. Her family has been informed.
“We remain at the scene conducting enquiries into the circumstances of the incident. Buckingham Street is currently closed to allow for enquiries to take place.
“A 24-year-old man from Havant has been arrested on suspicion of murder as part of our investigation. He remains in custody at this time.”
