Officers have arrested three men on suspicion of assault offences following an incident at the Swan Centre in Eastleigh yesterday afternoon (30 January)
An altercation ensued between a group of four men at around 2pm, after it is alleged that three of the men had assaulted a female staff member at a kiosk.
The fourth man, who was a bystander, had attempted to intervene in the situation, but was subsequently assaulted by the three men – causing minor injuries – before attempting to steal his mobile phone.
Officers were deployed to the scene and located three men matching the description given by shopping centre staff on Market Street.
A 24-year-old man from Lockerley was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
An 18-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of common assault and using threatening behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
While a 28-year-old man from Romsey was arrested on suspicion of common assault.
All three were bailed with conditions until Sunday 27 February.
