A 27-year-old female Jessica Wheeler from Ryde has been banned from driving for 12 months after being caught driving a car whilst over the drink-drive limit.
Wheeler, of Belvedere Street, appeared before Magistrates on Friday (6th August) charged with driving a motor vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit.
The court heard from prosecutor Liz Miller that Police were called to Clarendon Road in Shanklin on 23rd July this year.
It was here that Wheeler was found behind the wheel of a Citroen C2 with 3 passengers. She was suspected of being in drink and was asked to provide a specimen of breath.
An evidential breathalyser reading of 58 was later recorded at Newport Police Station following the 27-year-old’s arrest.
Barry Arnett, defending, said that Miss Wheeler – a hotel worker – recognises she shouldn’t have moved the car and that she made an error of judgement.
Magistrates disqualified Jessica Wheeler from driving for 14 months, fined her £120 and ordered her to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.
